Amritsar MC driver dies by suicide; blames wife, in-laws in video

Amritsar: Ashwani Kumar alias Ashu Nahar, a driver with the Amritsar municipal corporation and a leader of the employees' union of the corporation, allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself. Before taking his life, Ashu recorded a video in which he has apologised to his children. In the video, Ashu allegedly accused his wife and her family of beating and harassing him and sought forgiveness from his two minor daughters. His shirt also appeared torn in the video, which was posted on social media. After the incident, the police reached the spot and started an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. According to sources, Ashu had domestic disputes with his wife. Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the police was investigating the matter and had taken the deceased's mobile in its possession to get it analysed. The police are also relying on the video recorded by Ashu and the statements of his family members to determine whether he was provoked into taking the extreme step.Police sent the video to the forensic lab for analysis
