CHANDIGARH: Karan Kumar Vohra, 25 — a resident of Burail, Sector 45, who was arrested for killing investor Krishan Kumar on Sunday — had strangulated the businessman in Nayagaon and drove his body to Sector 23 before he threw it into the N-choe on July 15.
Karan revealed during the interrogation, "On that day, I asked Krishan to sit on the co-passenger seat and offered to drive his car.
On reaching Nayagaon, I attacked him and strangulated him. Then I secured his body with a seatbelt and drove it to Sector 23, where I threw it into the natural stream."
Though Karan claimed that he murdered the investor without anyone's assistance, police said they were yet to verify his claims.
He was produced in a court on Sunday. Even as cops sought Karan's five-day police custody, the court sent him to one-day police remand. Now, he will be produced in a local court on Monday.
On the motive behind the murder, the police said Karan had invested Rs 3 lakh in Krishan's firm last year. Though the investor had promised to double the amount, he failed to do so.
Krishan went missing on July 15 after attending court proceedings in Sector 43 district courts. SHO of Sector 17 police station Dilsher Singh Chandel said, "Call detail records and tower location of the cell-phone of Krishan showed that Karan was with the investor all through the day."
Sources in police said, "Karan was demanding his money back from the investor for long, but the latter was unable to return it."
