Aam Admi Party's Chhotepur probe far from over

PATIALA: The AAP panel formed to investigate into a video sting that showed party's former Punjab convener, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, accepting Rs 2 lakh from a person, is yet to submit its report.

The panel, headed by AAP MLA from Delhi Jarnail Singh and former bureaucrat

Jasbir Singh Bir

, was formed on August 26 and was to submit its findings in a week. "We are on the job, but could not complete it within promised the seven days," said Jarnail Singh, who is the chairperson of the two-member committee, told

TOI

over the phone,

The MLA said Chhotepur was not cooperating and his reply to the charges was still awaited. "He has been mentioning the dates of his 'Punjab Parivartan Yatra' to gather views of AAP volunteers, which is keeping him busy," he said.

The confidant said Chhotepur had no connection with the inquiry and did not recognise the two-member committee. "He has asked for making AAP's suspended MPs Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and

Harinder Singh

as members of the committee," the confidant added.

The close associate, who did not want to be named, said the alleged video showing Chhotepur accepting money had not been made public. "It appears that the AAP leadership just wanted to blackmail the sacked convener. If there is any video with AAP, it should be made public," he said.

Jarnail said he would be visiting Punjab in a couple of days and finish the inquiry report. "If Chhotepur does not give his reply, the report will be based on the facts available with us," he said.
