5 hurt after car falls off bridge

Chandigarh: Five individuals, including a woman, were injured after their car fell off a bridge behind Bapudham Colony in Sector 26 late Friday night. All the injured were rushed to GMSH-16 and PGI for treatment. Police said the condition of the woman was critical, while the other four were stated to be out of danger. Sector 26 police have started an investigation.According to the police, the car was coming from the direction of IT Park when it suddenly hit an iron railing and fell off the bridge. Passersby immediately informed the police at emergency number, 112. PCR vans, Sector 26 police personnel and ambulances reached the spot and started the rescue operation. All the five injured persons were taken to GMSH-16 for medical assistance.
During the probe, police found that the car was being driven by Nitish, a resident of Baltana, Zirakpur. He reportedly lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to collide with the iron grills and fall off the bridge.Police said the damaged car was later removed with the help of recovery vans.
