MOHALI: Five employees of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Phase 3B-I, have been booked for duping customers. In his complaint to police, bank vice-president and circle manager Saurav Ghosh alleged that these employees had embezzled an amount of Rs 1.25 crore from the accounts of Kotak customers.
Those booked include Rampreet Bawa of Sector 68, Gurvinder Poni of Sector 66, Kartar Singh of Phase-XI - all from Mohali, Love Paul of Sector 39, Chandigarh road, Ludhiana and Harpal Singh of Sector 23, Chandigarh.
All five are already serving a sentence in another fraud case.
Based on the vice-president’s complaint, a case was registered at Mataur police station. SHO Atul Soni said Ghosh had claimed that the five employees had fraudulently withdrawn a sum close to Rs 1.25 crore from the accounts of bank customers.
”We’ll soon question the employees to find out details concerning how long had the alleged embezzlement continued. It’s premature to comment more on the matter,” the SHO added.
A case under sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 465 (punishment for forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 477A (falsification of accounts) and 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) of IPC was registered against the five.
