Jind: Five youths have been arrested in connection with an incident in Safidon town on February 16, in which a young man was allegedly assaulted and humiliated, prompting widespread anger after a video of the episode circulated on social media.
Police said a group of youths, reportedly under the influence of alcohol and involved in an old rivalry with the victim, allegedly fired at him (the shot missed), attacked him with iron rods and even urinated on him. A case has been registered against eight suspects, including main accused Naveen.

DSP Gaurav Sharma said five accused — aged between 18 and 23 — had been arrested so far, while efforts were underway to trace the remaining suspects. Police have invoked Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (attempt to murder), relevant provisions of the Arms Act, and sections of the SC/ST Act.
The incident took place at the HUDA Ground behind the New Grain Market in Safidon. Police said the victim had been sitting with friends when Naveen and his associates called him over a prior dispute. Naveen reportedly has two previous cases registered against him.
Local residents claimed the heads of the arrested suspects were shaved as a punitive measure. However, police denied the allegation, saying no such action had been taken.
