Patiala: Punjab Police on Friday arrested three alleged shooters linked to fugitive gangster Bobby Mahi and recovered illegal firearms and ammunition from them in Patiala.
The accused, Satvinder Singh alias Sunny, Jaspreet Singh alias Hakla and Deepak alias Deepu, were nabbed by CIA Patiala teams following specific inputs near the Truck Union area in Ghanaur, where they were allegedly planning a major crime.
Police recovered two .30-bore pistols and 10 live cartridges during the operation on Sunam Road.
Senior superintendent of police Varun Sharma said the accused were in constant touch with Mahi, who is operating from abroad. "They had conducted recce of a property dealer and were planning a targeted shooting, which has been averted," he said.
Police said Mahi allegedly used social media to extort money and supply drugs and weapons to associates for targeted attacks.
A case has been registered at Sadar Patiala police station, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider network.
