Hisar: Nearly five years after a man was murdered over a canal water dispute, a Hisar court sentenced three residents of Rawalwas Kalan village to life imprisonment.
District and sessions judge Alka Malik convicted Sarjeet, Satyendra and Satbir of the murder of Suresh and awarded them life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on each of the convicts.

According to the prosecution, the case was registered in 2021 at Hisar Sadar police station. During the investigation, police found that Sarjeet had a long-standing dispute with Suresh over the distribution of canal water among family members. The enmity allegedly escalated, leading the accused to attack Suresh with the intention to kill.
Suresh sustained grievous injuries in the assault and was rushed to hospital by his family. However, he later succumbed to his injuries. The incident triggered tension in the village at the time.
Police arrested all 3 accused shortly after the incident and sent them to judicial custody. On February 10, the court found the 3 accused guilty. On Tuesday, they were sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine.
