2 Patiala government doctors quarantined after returning from US

PATIALA: Two government doctors of Patiala have been quarantined after their return from USA recently. The health authorities, however, did not reveal any identification of the quarantined doctors but said that one of them was working in government Medical College and hospital in Patiala while the other doctor was working in government Mata Kaushalya hospital in Patiala.
Already seven persons in the district have undergone tests for the COVID 19 and all had reported negative.

The health authorities and the district administration are on toes to keep a check on people having recent travel history.
“Two doctors working in government sector in Patiala had returned from USA a day ago. As per the guidelines we have quarantined them at home even as they have not shown any of the symptoms. The couple had gone around a month ago to USA. There is no need to panic as no case has been reported positive in the district so far”, said, Patiala civil surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra.
Municipal Corporation, Patiala with an employee count of nearly 1700 employees, is one of the larger organisations of the district and it’s Health-Wing, with a headcount of nearly 975 health workers, is at the forefront of city’s battle against the coronavirus. The officials claimed that the top brass of municipal corporation, including its mayor, the commissioner and other officials, is pulling out all stops to fight any menace arising from the virus.
The officials, as well as the municipal councillors, are calling in regular meetings to chalk out the strategy and review the preparedness of the corporation to deal with the emergent condition if any arises. Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, mayor MCP supervised the arrangements made by the Corporation to combat the impending threat of the Virus and has expressed his satisfaction on the scale of preparedness.
Mayor said, “Training has been imparted to all the employees of the corporation regarding preventive measures to be adopted. Advisories in line with instructions of the health department of the government have been issued to the employees. We are totally geared up to meet any challenge thrown by the virus.” The mayor and his team of councillors are personally visiting the general public in their respective wards are sensitising them about preventive measures that need to be taken. A crackdown has been initiated on all those, who are working adversely with regard to the city’s fight against the malaise.

Punamdeep Kaur, Commissioner, MCP in her statement stated, “All the employees of the corporation, especially from Health Branch are working overtime to ensure that there is no outbreak of the disease in the City. We are augmenting the logistical arrangements for our employees to ensure that the disease does not proliferate. Sanitisers, liquid soaps, masks, hand gloves have been distributed among the employees, who are relatively more vulnerable to catch the infection. Not only the office areas, but community toilets, public toilets, garbage prone areas, dumpsite are being subjected to chemical treatment to ensure that the possibility of the spread of disease is attenuated.”
Municipal Corporation claimed to have set aside majority of its routine works aside for the time being, and is according topmost priority to fight the possible spread of coronavirus. More resources are being allocated to preventive measures than usual, and all the employees have been asked to work beyond the sphere of their official responsibilities to contribute to the fight of the corporation against the impending menace.
In a joint appeal, the mayor and commissioner of municipal corporation have asked all the citizens of the city to take all preventive precautions and avoid hand-to-hand contact with each other. Those suspected to carry possible virus have been asked to seek immediate medical help. Citizens have been asked to avoid public gatherings and stay indoors. This is worth mentioning that 16 Motivators deployed with the Corporation are spreading awareness amongst the citizens about containing the virus.
