Hisar: Sirsa police have arrested four persons, including two minors, for allegedly murdering an elderly man and attacking his son in Kurangawali village.
The arrested adults have been identified as Jagpal, a resident of Kurangawali, and Jagjit Singh of Jhorda Rohi village. The two minors have also been apprehended in the case.
According to the SHO at Rori police station, Anil Kumar, the case was registered following a complaint filed by Hardeep Singh, a private bus driver and son of deceased Lila.
In his complaint, Hardeep alleged that a villager, Shambhu, asked for Rs 1,000 from him, but he failed to pay the amount, leading to a dispute. On the night of April 4, around 10.30 pm, Shambhu, along with four to five accomplices, allegedly scaled the boundary wall and entered their house.
At the time, Hardeep's elderly father was sleeping in the courtyard. The accused allegedly attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, resulting in his death on the spot.
Hearing the commotion, family members rushed out, but the attackers allegedly dragged Hardeep's 24-year-old brother, Gurdeep, onto the street and assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons, leaving him seriously injured. He was later referred to a hospital in Bathinda for treatment. Police said further investigation is underway.
