CHANDIGARH: The operations cell of the police has arrested two members of Devinder Bambiha gang from Sector 37 and recovered two pistols and seven live cartridges from them.
The two are already booked in nine cases of attempt to murder and under NDPS Act and Arms Act and for extortion, dacoity and assault by the Punjab and Haryana police.
Ketan Bansal, SP, operations cell, said the accused are Shivam Chauhan (32), a resident of Pathankot, Punjab, and Vikas Mann (25), a resident of Karnal, Haryana. Police said Shivam had done MBA, while Mann was a law graduate.
A team of the operations call received secret information that both the accused carrying sophisticated weapons were going towards Mohali in a car to kill Baljit Chaudhary, a former associate of Shivam. Police laid a naka near the Sector 37 market and started checking vehicles around 11.30pm on Wednesday. Cops said the two, in a Mahindra Scorpio, stopped before the check post and tried to run away. Cops chased and caught them. On searching them, police said they recovered two .32 bore sophisticated pistols and seven live cartridges.
Police said Shivam was already booked in six cases of attempt to murder and extortion, and under NDPS Act, while Mann was booked in four cases of dacoity and assault and under Sections of Arms Act. A court remanded both the accused to police custody.
