2 cousins from Tarn Taran killed in Canada truck crash

Tarn Taran: A semi-truck accident in northeastern British Columbia, Canada, has claimed the lives of two cousins, Talwinder Singh and Judgebir Singh, sending shockwaves through their home district of Tarn Taran in Punjab.The accident occurred when their vehicle reportedly skidded on snow, broke through a guardrail, and plunged down a steep embankment along the Alaska highway.
"Yesterday, I received the most horrific news of my life. It has shattered us all," said Talwinder's father, Narinderjit Singh, an ex-serviceman and resident of Mari Gaur Singh village. Talwinder (32), one of three brothers, moved to Canada nearly five years ago on a study visa and was working part-time. He is survived by his wife and a two-year-old son. His father said, "If there were livelihood opportunities here, these boys would never have gone abroad. Why would any child leave their family unless compelled?" The atmosphere was equally somber in Allowal village, where 30-year-old Judgebir Singh's family remains inconsolable. Judgebir had moved to Canada two years ago in search of a better life. "My brother and cousin are gone. I don't know what turn our lives will take now," said Amritpal Singh, Talwinder's brother. The family has appealed to the Centre to help repatriate the bodies.
