10 attacks at police stations under AAP’s 4-yr rule: Randhawa

Chandigarh: Former deputy chief minister of Punjab and Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Thursday condemned the grenade attack outside the BJP's office in Chandigarh. He alleged that both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have failed to prevent such incidents in the state.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha session on Thursday, he demanded the enactment of strict laws specifically aimed at eliminating the nexus between terrorists and gangsters in the state.





He said gangsters in Punjab are continuously carrying out killings, and terrorist incidents are on the rise. During the four-year tenure of the AAP, there have been 10 terrorist attacks at police stations. A day before the bomb blast at the BJP office in Chandigarh, a police station in Bhindi Saida, Amritsar district, was also attacked.

Randhawa said Punjab, being a border state, continues to face the smuggling of weapons, ammunition and drugs from Pakistan through drones. He alleged that neither the AAP govt nor the BJP-led Centre has shown adequate seriousness in tackling the issue.

He added that a significant stretch of the Punjab–Pakistan border falls under the jurisdiction of the Border Security Force (BSF), making the Centre directly accountable, as the BSF has been unable to effectively curb drone incursions across the border.
