1 arrested, 6 booked for assaulting Patiala resident
Patiala: Kotwali Patiala police have registered case under relevant sections of kidnapping and criminal intimidation on the complaint of a local resident of Chandni Chowk.
The complainant, Gurpreet Singh, reported to the police that around 6 men kidnapped him and took him to Sangrur on Monday night.
The police said the accused had an old rivalry with the complainant.
The complainant is a resident of Chandni Chowk Patiala and was kidnapped on Monday allegedly by the accused, who took him forcibly into their car. They then beat him with iron and wooden rods at an unknown place.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep Singh of Rajpura, Kaka and Parveen of Patiala, an unidentified accused who is an employee in Zomato, and two other unidentified accused.
The police arrested one of the accused and said others would be nabbed soon.
The police said the complainant was admitted to a government hospital with serious injuries, but was out of danger as per the doctors.
The police said a case under relevant sections of criminal intimidation, kidnapping and criminal assault and other sections of the IPC was registered against the accused.
In the primary investigation, the police found that a verbal spat took place between the complainant and the accused a few days back at Chandini Chowk, following which Gurpreet trashed and chased them away.
The police said the accused had kept a vigil on Gurpreet and kidnapped him on Monday and assaulted him.
