BHUBANESWAR: Candidates contesting the civic body elections intensified their digital campaigning as physical rallies came to an end on Tuesday evening. The elections to 109 urban local bodies will be held across the state on Thursday.

The candidates are using various digital platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter to reach out to voters. BJD’s mayoral nominee for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Sulochana Das uploaded photos of her last offline campaigning in a hoodless vehicle on Tuesday. “We will update the party’s social media handles regularly. The social media channels are being used to educate voters and make appeal to them to vote for the BJD,” said a member of Das’s social media team.

also has been keeping his social media accounts updated. “I have walked 150km in the entire campaigning exercise and have received immense love from people. I will continue to interact with voters virtually,” he added.

The saffron party’s mayoral candidate in Bhubaneswar, Suniti Mund, has been talking to voters over phone and text messages after the physical campaigning ended. “I have been interacting with voters virtually and will continue to do so till the election day,” she added.

has been active on Twitter ever since she was fielded as the Congress’s mayor nominee. “I have just returned from campaigning but I will use the digital platforms to stay connected with voters. During the physical campaigning also, I posted developmental messages in Odia and English.”
