Two BSNL staff held for stealing 27 batteries

Koraput: Four persons, including two contractual employees of the BSNL, were arrested for allegedly stealing at least 27 batteries from three BSNL towers in Koraput district on Monday.The accused contractual employees were identified as B Prasad Rao and Sheikh Islam, and the others as Manoj Khora and Babuli Turuk, police said. On June 29 a complaint was registered by the BSNL authorities regarding at least 27 missing batteries from its towers situated at L and B zones in HAL township and its office in Sunabeda, the police said.“During investigation it was found the accused contractual employees and the other two persons had stolen the batteries and sold it to a woman in Semiliguda area,” said Ullash Chandra Rout, inspector in-charge, Sunabeda police station. tnn
