State launches five-day skill development training for vocational students

Bhubaneswar: To bolster vocational education, the school and mass education department commenced a five-day residential hands-on skill development training programme for students from govt-run vocational higher secondary schools. The initiative, which started on Tuesday, is being conducted at two prominent locations in Bhubaneswar, each focusing on distinct trades.The Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) is hosting training sessions on IT-ITeS, while the World Skill Centre (WSC) is offering training in electronics and hardware. This dual-location approach aims to provide specialised skills to students, enhancing their practical knowledge and employability.During the inauguration at CTTC, Niyati Pattnaik, director of Higher Secondary Education, emphasised the increasing relevance of vocational education in today’s competitive landscape. She encouraged students to gain proficiency in information and technology, expressing confidence that the hands-on training would play a pivotal role in shaping their future careers.L Rajasekhar, general manager of CTTC, also addressed the students, urging them to seize this opportunity to explore careers in vocational and technical fields.At the World Skill Centre, the training programme was inaugurated by Sasmita Mali, joint director of the directorate of higher secondary education, alongside other senior state govt officials. The event saw the participation of around 100 students from various districts, including Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Puri, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, and Gajapati. This comprehensive training programme is designed to enhance students’ practical competencies and boost their employability.In parallel, Centurion University initiated training for the sports, physical education, fitness, and leisure (SPEFL) trade, which began on Monday. This programme also sees the participation of around 100 students and teachers, further underscoring the state’s commitment to advancing vocational education across diverse fields.
