Fifteen persons were injured when a retired BSF jawan opened fire at them in Kendrapada district on Wednesday evening.

KENDRAPADA: Fifteen persons were injured when a retired BSF jawan opened fire at them in Kendrapada district on Wednesday evening. The incident took place when villagers tried to stop the jawan, Madan Mohan Behera of Baratunga village, from constructing a house on government land, an officer of Marsaghai police station said. He has fled after the incident.
Those injured are Pramod Behera (37), Sunakar Swain (60), Ashok Basantia (43), Hrusikesh Swain (42), Uddhaba Swain (65), Satrughan Behera (44), Gagan Rout (45), Bharati Swain (34), Nirmala Swain (32), Minati Swain (45), Sunakar Behera (50), Pramod Swain (38), Pagala Swain (45), Babuli Behera (62) and Ranjan Swain (45). They have been admitted to the district government hospital. Six have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.
