'Red rebels' block road near Sorada

Road communication between Ganjam's Sorada and Kandhamal's Daringibadi was disrupted on Monday following the road blockade by suspected Maoists Gajalabadi within Sorada police limits.

BERHAMPUR: Road communication between Ganjam's Sorada and Kandhamal's Daringibadi was disrupted on Monday following the road blockade by suspected Maoists Gajalabadi within Sorada police limits. The reason for the blockade is not known but police suspects that Red rebels of doing so due to the combing operation and deployment of forces in the area.

Police reached the spot to clear the traffic only in the afternoon. "We were busy interrogating a murder accused," inspector in-charge (Sorada) Niranjan Behera said.
A few days ago, security personnel unearthed landmines from Kerubadi-Bhramarabadi road recently. While 100 kg explosives contained in four drums were seized from Godamari Chowk within Daringibadi police limits in Kandhamal district, around 10 kg explosives were found near the same area on Saturday.
