Rourkela: The railways has launched a manhunt for a man after receiving allegations that he impersonated a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) and extorted money from some of the general coach passengers.
A K Choudhury, senior divisional commercial manager, Chakradharpur railway division, said on Sunday that RPF and GRP of Sambalpur, Bilaspur and Chakradharpur divisions have been alerted about a man impersonating a TTE on Tamil Nadu-Tata-Ernakulam Express, checking tickets of some passengers at Jharsuguda on Friday. The man demanded money from valid ticket-holders.
One of the passengers recorded the same on his mobile and sent the video to Chakradharpur railway division. A K Choudhury began a probe and found there was no such TTE in the three divisions, confirming that he was an impersonator and alerted the forces to arrest him.
“The man in the video is not a genuine TTE. We have alerted RPF and GRP of Chakradharpur, Sambalpur and Bilaspur divisions to nab him,” said Choudhury.t
