Rail minister sanctions 1.55cr for Balasore

Bhubaneswar: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has allocated Rs 1.55 crore from the MPLAD fund for the development of Bahanaga area and hospitals of Balasore. Vaishnaw had assured locals of financial help during his visit to the triple train accident site at Bahanaga Bazar and Balasore on June 20 and June 21.
During his visit to Balasore district last month, the minister had appreciated the effort of locals in saving the lives of many passengers after the June 2 accident. Two high masts with floodlights have been provided for proper lighting and visibility of the Bahanaga Bazar area, said railway sources.
To improve drainage, installation of new Hume pipes is underway. The minister has emphasised on fast-tracked completion of this work, said a statement from East Coast Railway (ECoR). Vaishnaw has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for various developmental works at Bahanaga and nearby villages. These include construction of five community centres, among others. TNN
