Puty wins best cinematographer award in Durban

Bhubaneswar: Piyush Puty, son of noted filmmaker Gadadhar Puty, bagged the best cinematographer award at Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) for Hindi feature film ‘Joram’. The jury of the film festival was impressed with Piyush’s cinematography. “There was no separation between the camera and the protagonists’ movements. A delicate dance of skill in pursuit of form was evident in each frame,” the DIFF tweeted.
Piyush (35) was excited with the award. “The experience of ‘Joram’ can be termed as my unlearning project that pushed me beyond my comfort space, and demanded exploration beyond books and conservative approaches. ‘Joram’ was undoubtedly the most challenging as well as the most satisfying film of my career,” he said.
Piyush has won national awards for his documentary ‘Amadvad ma famous’ in 2015 before shooting his first ‘Kamyaab’. He is a part of a number of successful films in Bollywood including ‘Wake up Sid’, ‘Don 2’, ‘Lootera’, ‘Halahal’, ‘Bamfaad’, ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’, ‘Haddi’ and ‘Kachhey Limbu’.
