On Wednesday, school headmistress Pabitra Samal filed an FIR at Derabishi police station demanding strict action against those responsible.
Block education officer (BEO) Debadutta Satapathy said after coming to know about the incident, he visited the school to investigate the matter.
Police have filed a case under various BNS sections and Section 3 of The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. “We are trying to nab the culprits,” said Ambika Prasad Das, IIC of Derabishi police station.
Many locals protested against the vandalism. They also sat on dharna in front of the school on Wednesday and demanded that the authorities take action against the miscreants.
