Bhubaneswar: Public works minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Friday reviewed the construction of a new road connecting Sundarpada and Jatni. The minister held discussions with departmental officials, the chief engineer, contractors and locals to explore strategies for accelerating the project. In a bid to expedite construction, Harichandan set a deadline for completion by the end of Nov.
The 13.5-km road is set to be expanded into a four-lane thoroughfare, a move aimed at improving traffic flow and connectivity. Harichandan emphasised the importance of an effective action plan to ensure timely completion of the project.
The minister also addressed the need to resolve ancillary issues such as drainage, sewage and electricity that may arise during the road-widening process. The Sundarpada-Jatni road project is expected to significantly enhance infrastructure in the area, providing a boost to local development and easing transportation for residents and commuters alike, a govt statement read.
