JNV student found hanging in hostel room

Berhampur: A Plus II first year science student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Tudipaju, in Kandhamal district was found hanging in his hostel room on Monday. The deceased was identified as Gokul Kanhar (18), son of Suresh Kanhar, of Titeripala village under Tumudibandh police station limits, said police. After the arrival of his parents, he was taken to the district headquarters hospital, Phulbani, where the doctors declared him dead. Though the exact reason behind his decision was not known, his father alleged harassment by school authorities. His parents did not lodge any complaint with police, said Subhrajit Nayak, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Phulbani Sadar. Police said they have registered an unnatural death case at Phulbani Sadar police station and started an inquiry.
