Investor conclave secures investment intents worth Rs 67,000 crore
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Renewable Energy Investor Conclave 2026 on Thursday secured investment commitments worth Rs 67,000 crore for nearly 6.8GW of capacity, unveiling over 5,000MW of floating solar, 18,000MW of pumped storage and 500MWh of battery storage projects, along with opportunities in wind, distributed renewables, agrivoltaics, small hydro and waste-to-energy.
The two-day conclave, organised by the energy department in association with GRIDCO Ltd, brought together policymakers, developers, financiers, technology providers and industry leaders to accelerate renewable energy deployment in the state. The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability and Technology (iFOREST) was the knowledge partner.
Deputy chief minister K V Singh Deo inaugurated the event and launched Odisha’s first wind resource assessment initiative as well as a city accelerator programme for six cities. “Odisha is committed to becoming a frontrunner in the renewable energy sector. As India moves towards reaching its 500 GW non-fossil fuel target by 2030, our state is contributing meaningfully. With a long coastline suited for wind energy and strong potential in solar and small hydro, we offer a robust policy framework and a streamlined approval process for investors,” Singh Deo said.
“We have already mobilised Rs 67,000 crore for the renewable energy projects in Odisha, which is remarkable in the eastern region,” Singh Deo added.
Five MoUs were signed with NHPC, BPCL, NEEPCO, ABC Cleantech Pvt Ltd and Axis Energy Ventures and Vasudha, covering pumped storage, floating and ground-mounted solar, wind-hybrid projects and green hydrogen derivatives.
Additional chief secretary (energy) Vishal Kumar Dev said, “The state’s focus extended beyond capacity addition to ensuring grid stability through pumped storage and battery systems.”
GRIDCO MD Satyapriya Rath said, “A dedicated renewable energy nodal agency (RENA) cell was facilitating projects from conceptualisation to commissioning.”
“We see Odisha as one of the most promising renewable energy destinations in the country. With strong policy support, abundant natural resources and proactive facilitation by the state government, we are committing investments of over Rs 40,000 crore across wind, solar, hybrid and green hydrogen projects,” K Ravi Kumar, chairman of ABC Cleantech Pvt Ltd, said.
“We are confident that our partnership with the state will significantly contribute to India’s clean energy transition while generating local employment and sustainable growth,” Ravi Kumar added.
Officials said the strong investor participation signalled growing confidence in Odisha’s clean energy roadmap, reinforcing its ambition to emerge as eastern India’s renewable energy growth hub.
