SAMBALPUR: The construction of the second campus of Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) at Badsinghari near Basantpur on the outskirts of the city began recently. A three-storey academic block is being built in the first phase.
Deputy registrar of the varsity, U C Pati said, "The
World Bank had provided Rs 9 crore, including Rs 2 crore for non-civil development work and Rs 7 crore for civil work. We have started construction of the three-storey building which will house 15 classrooms, office rooms and toilets, with the Rs 7 crore in the first phase."
"Construction of other required buildings for the institution at the second campus will be carried out with the funds which will be provided by the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA)," said Pati.
He said RUSA has already sanctioned Rs 27.5 crore for the development of infrastructure of the institution in the first phase.
