Bhubaneswar: The BJP has revoked suspension of party's former vice president Ashok Sahu.
He was suspended on October 23, 2014, for allegedly breaching party discipline by airing his remarks in the media and Twitter posts.
The suspension was revoked on the recommendation of disciplinary committee chaired by senior party leader Manmohan Samal.
Former BJP state president K V Singh Deo suspended Sahu four days after the Kandhamal byelection results were declared. He was served a show-cause notice asking as to why he should not be expelled from the party.
Sahu had unsuccessfully contested from Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat in 2009 and was vying for party ticket for the byelection to the same seat held on October 15, 2014. The BJP, however, fielded former party MP Rudra Madhav Ray, who lost the polls to BJD.
Immediately after the results were announced, Sahu questioned as to why the Narendra Modi magic was not working in Odisha. In the social media, he stressed the need for interospection in the party.
BJP state president Basant Panda also revoked suspension of Murali Manohar Sharma, Himanshu Meher, Sanjay Padhi, Hemant Behera, Hrushikesh Pradhan, Ranju Raiman, Pradip Routray, Rajib Sadangi, Manoranjan Mallick and Tushar Jena. They too were suspened for indiscipline.
