Bargarh court convicts man for murder of 5-yr-old boy

Bhubaneswar: The additional district and sessions judge, Bargarh, on Wednesday convicted Bijit Bhoi for the brutal murder of a five-year-old boy and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for life. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict, failing which he will undergo an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.According to the prosecution, on Nov 28, 2020, at around 5 pm, the five-year-old boy was assaulted on the village road while he was going to a shop with his grandmother.The child sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to the community health centre at Bhukta. He was later referred to the district headquarters hospital in Bargarh and subsequently shifted to VIMSAR, Burla, where he died the same night.The complaint was lodged the next day by the victim’s grandfather, Mahendra Bhoi, leading to the registration of the case in Ambabhona police station.
