Rourkela: Town police in Sundargarh district arrested two men from Punjab for allegedly transporting 146.3 kg of ganja worth around Rs 30 lakh, concealed under cashewnut shells. The arrested duo, driver Ajay Kumar (32) of Patiala and Verendra Pal (38) of Ludhiana district, were taken into custody on Sunday night.Acting on a tip-off about a large consignment of ganja being moved in a full-body truck from Sambalpur towards Rourkela, a Town police team set up a ‘naka’ on the Biju Expressway. The truck was intercepted and two occupants were detained. During questioning, they admitted to having loaded the ganja from Boudh and were transporting it to Ludhiana, Punjab, to sell at a higher price.Under the direct monitoring of Sundargarh SP, a special team has been formed to probe the entire supply chain and financial links of the inter-state smuggling racket.
