Jharsuguda : The decomposed body of a youth, wrapped in a plastic sheet with hands and legs tied, was recovered from a forest near Kukrikani under Brajrajnagar police station limits on Thursday. Police suspect that the youth was murdered and his body dumped in the forest. Police identified the deceased as Sahil Sahis (19) of Rampur Bugudapada. He had been missing since Feb 1, 2026.Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police traced the body to the Tangar Ghat forest area. A scientific team was called to the spot. SP (Jharsuguda) Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, Brajrajnagar SDPO Chintamani Pradhan, IIC, Brajrajnagar, Dhabaleswar Sahu, and Rampur outpost police officer Sudarshan Behera visited the spot.Addressing the media, Raghavendra said a missing person complaint had been lodged by the victim’s father, Satyanarayan Sahis, following which a search was initiated. “On Thursday, we received information about a body lying in Kukrikani forest. The deceased was identified by his father. He has alleged that his son was murdered by his friends,” the SP said. An FIR has been registered, and three suspects have been detained for questioning.
