Woman blackmailed & raped by bro-in-law

Bhopal: A 32-year-old woman was allegedly blackmailed and raped by her brother-in-law. The accused allegedly exploited the woman by threatening to defame her. Troubled by the harassment, the woman informed her family members and later lodged a complaint with the police. Police are currently trying to arrest the accused.According to police, the 32-year-old woman, is married, and her husband's cousin frequently visited their house, and the two became well acquainted over time. The woman used to share personal matters with him, including her problems and complaints about her husband and in-laws. He would often console her, and the two also used to chat over the phone.The accused saved several screenshots of their chats and audio recordings of her calls. In August last year, when the woman was alone at home, he allegedly showed her the old screenshots and pressured her to establish physical relations, threatening that he would reveal the chats to her husband if she refused. Under pressure, he allegedly forced himself on her.After that, whenever he got an opportunity, he allegedly continued to sexually exploit the woman by threatening to defame her and inform her family. Distressed by the repeated harassment, the woman eventually told her husband and other family members about the incident and later filed a complaint with the police. Police said efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
