BHOPAL: A week ahead of BJP’s agitation on farm issues, state agriculture minister Sachin Yadav has claimed that farmers were not only happy over loan waiver, but some were also worshipping chief minister Kamal Nath during Diwali pooja for writing off their debts.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Yadav, said: “Loan waiver has brought prosperity to the farming community. A farmer, Manohar Thakur from village Tharvar in Barwaha assembly area of Khargone district, worshipped the waiver certificate and also applied tilak to the photo of chief minister Kamal Nath during Diwali pooja. Congress has finally brought prosperity to the farmers.”
Yadav’s tweet was re-tweeted by the CM’s office. The post stated: “Friends from the BJP should admit that they are misguiding the farmers by politicizing the farm loan waiver issue. The farmers are turning prosperous after loan waiver scheme as promised and launched by the Congress government.”
Talking to reporters later, Yadav said that during its 15-year rule, the BJP only made tall promises, but farmers had to suffer always.
Now, the BJP was trying to misguide and misinform people with baseless facts, which the public has found unacceptable, said Yadav. The BJP has launched a tirade against the Congress government over the deadline of loan waiver. The party has announced a statewide protest on November 4 and 5 over the issue.

BJP leaders said that they would raise all issues promised by the Congress in its Vachan Patra (election manifesto) before coming to power in the state.
“The Congress government is trying to divert the attention of public through its focused propaganda. We have decided to hit the streets and protest in all districts against the failure of the government. Farmers are in distress, poor have no relief, pensioners are not getting their justified rights and the law and order situation has deteriorated further during the ten-month rule,” said BJP state chief Rakesh Singh on Tuesday.
BJP also raised the issue of farmer suicides in parts of state and delay in survey of the crops damaged due to heavy rains. Singh said this has caused a delay in the disbursement of relief, while irregularities in the details sent to the Central government for farmer pension have also affected several peasants.
