Bhopal: A 60-year-old tribal woman was shot dead, and her 35-year-old daughter was seriously injured at their home in Adivasi Ka Pura area of the Mohana area in Gwalior late on Sunday.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when the deceased woman's second daughter reached home after watering the fields and saw the bodies of her mother and sister. She immediately informed the police who found the woman identified as Meera Adivasi dead, while her daughter, Rajwati alias Rajjo, was seriously injured with a gunshot wound to her chest. Rajjo was rushed to the Gwalior Trauma Center, where her condition remains critical.
The accused has been identified as Vishnu Pandit, a resident of Kheria Jaura. Initial investigations suggest that Vishnu had a relationship with Rajjo, and there were recent tensions between them. A dispute between the two occurred just days before the attack, with Meera reportedly disapproving of their relationship. Police believe that Vishnu shot Meera and then attempted to kill Rajjo in retaliation for the dispute. The police also learned that Vishnu and Rajjo were in a live-in relationship for about three years, which Meera opposed.
At the time of the incident, Rajjo's three children, aged 5, 12, and 15, were sleeping in another room and were unaware of the attack. The Mohana police are continuing to search for the accused, Vishnu Pandit.
