Tapti Mahotsav concludes on a classical note

Bhopal: Curtains came down on colorful Tapti Mahotsav on Monday with Multai town decked up to say goodbye to this year’s festivities. The culturally-rich event concluded with classical as well as folk performances by artistes of Madhya Pradesh. Throughout the three-day event, people living in Tapti region were treated with cultural delights and provided local artistes a splendid platform to display their talent.The final day of the event commenced with Bundeli musical performance by Rajkumar Thakur and his group. With a focus on the core Bundeli culture belonging to Bundelkhand region, the performance featured Ganesh Vandana and melodious nuggets such as Tapti Mahatva, Ayodhya Utsav, Multai Mahima and Ram Bhajan.“Through our folk songs, we try to exhibit Bundeli culture and traditions. Bundeli songs are so impactful that you can guess the occasion and celebration while listening. Whether it's sohar on the birth of a child, badhai on the wedding day or Karthik songs, every creation has a meaning and represents the region,” said Rajkumar Thakur, local Bundeli folk artist.‘Chaap Tilak Sab Cheeni‘ soothed the audience as Akriti Jain, a Kathak artist from Bhopal presented a graceful Sufi Kathak performance. Be it Ram Bhajan as a tribute to Ayodhya or Madhurashtakam depicting Lord Krishna’s childhood, she said it all through her subtle movements. The audience was mesmerized by her performance with her two students.Explaining Kathak forms, she told TOI that different forms of tatkar, hastak, bol, tukde, tode, and ladi would be a part of her classical performance, which is known to be ‘Shuddh Kathak’.The event ended with a blend of Bollywood songs, bhajan, and Punjabi musical performance by Vaishali Raikwar. Her performance kept people glued to their seats from the moment she began her performance with ‘Rashk-e-Qamar’.Talking about the Tapti Mahotsav, Trapti Pateriya, SDM of Multai, said that this event will be organized annually, providing a platform for aspiring local artistes to exhibit their cultural talent. She said that this event has touched the hearts of the people of Multai through excellent performances and lively presentation of art and culture.The second day of the event was an amalgamation of both folk dance and folk songs. The main highlight of the event was Gudumbaja Nritya by Indravati Lok Samiti. Gudumabaja Nritya is a popular Bagheli tribal folk dance, which was a major attraction for the audience on Sunday. The Nirgun bhajan by Bharti Vishwanathan and folk song performance by Balram Purohit also served as a delight to the audiences.
