Bhopal: Days after the killing of a rewilded tiger from Satpura in Chhindwara took a sensational turn, after the accused confessed he poisoned and buried the straying big cat fearing that its collar signals will give away his illegal opium field, the forest authorities moved to keep the animals within their protected limits.
In the first such move, another radio-collared male tiger that had strayed out of the Satpura reserve was caught and brought back on Wednesday.
The tiger had been roaming for over two months in forest areas near villages in the Narmadapuram division, including Itarsi and Sukhtawa ranges. It had also preyed on cattles.
Field Director Rakhi Nanda said all collared tigers were being closely watched and steps were being taken to stop them from moving into risky areas. The operation was carried out by teams from Satpura Tiger Reserve and the Narmadapuram forest division, along with wildlife experts.
The tiger was finally located Wednesday morning near Mandikhoh. It was tranquilised and safely captured. The rescue took three days, the officials said.
