BHOPAL: Jehangirabad police registered a case against unidentified accused for stopping government officials from discharging their duty during a function to honour Bhopal mayor Alok Sharma on Saturday.
Police said the incident took place at around 6.30pm when Mukesh Panthi, a resident of Chandbad area and few others raised slogans demanding facelift of Vishram Ghat at Chandbad.

However, when Panthi and others tried to storm the stage, people stopped them leading to heated arguments between the rival groups.
Police tried to pacify the mob, but the protesters manhandled cops and a case was registered, police said. In the counter case, the complainant Mukesh Panthi, a medical shop owner, complained to police that the dispute took place when he raised voice against the works carried out at Vishram Ghat. On his complaint, a case was registered against people who beat him up at the function.
The ruckus was created at the function to honour the mayor. Jehangirabad police tried to intervene and in a bid to stop people from beating the protestors, Jehangirabad SHO Virendra Chouhan got unconscious for some time at the spot.
