A 33-year-old married woman was allegedly being raped and blackmailed in Bilkhiria locality for the past two years. When she protested, the accused threatened to kill her children if she revealed about it to anyone, police said.

BHOPAL: A 33-year-old married woman was allegedly being raped and blackmailed in Bilkhiria locality for the past two years. When she protested, the accused threatened to kill her children if she revealed about it to anyone, police said.
Taking advantage of her silence, he started blackmailing her and extorted Rs 30,000 from her threatening to defame her in the society.

Two days back when he demanded Rs 5000 from her, the woman, fed up with his harassment, consumed a pesticide. When her condition worsened, her son revealed the incident to her husband and the matter was reported to Bilkhiria police.
Bilkhiria SHO Sunil Chaturvedi said that the survivor, a resident of a village in Bilkhiria, is a housewife while her husband works as a driver. The accused Rambabu alias Kallu Gurjar, 30, supplied milk to their house. He became friends with her husband and frequently visited their home.
In July 2020, when her husband had gone outstation, the accused reached her home and molested her. Few days later, he again raped her. When she protested, he threatened to kill her children. Terrified, the survivor kept mum and later the accused repeatedly raped her.
He then started blackmailing her over the incident and demanded money from her. He often took Rs 1500-Rs 2000 from her in parts. On August 10, Rambabu demanded Rs 5,000 from her. Fed up with his harassment, she consumed poison. When her condition deteriorated, she revealed the incident to her husband and the matter was reported to police.
Police said a case has been registered. The accused was produced before the court from where he was sent to jail, police said.
