BHOPAL: A Punjab police team on hunt for three imported rifles and belongings of the shooter from Mohali – Charanpreet Singh were attacked by members of Pardhi community in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district on Tuesday evening. The incident took place at Khejra village under Dharnawda police station at around 5 pm where a joint team of state police and their Punjab counterparts were fired at by the criminals, said police.
“More than 15 shots were fired by the criminals, none of us were injured”, said station house officer (SHO) of the Dharnawada police station Narendra Bhargav told TOI.
The rifles were stolen from – Charanpreets’ house in Punjab’s Mohali district (aka SAS Nagar) on August 14.
SSP Mohali Gurpeet Singh Bhullar told TOI on phone that their investigators had zeroed in on a particular gang based in Guna district. The suspects made away with three imported practicing rifles and other valuables on August 14, he said.
Though no arrest could be made following the attack, the police have recovered a pair of sports shoes belonging to the shooter from the house of a suspect identified as Ghanshyam Pardhi.
The Guna district police have booked 34 persons in this case.
