Octogenarian dies of burns

Bhopal: An 80-year-old woman died of burn injuries that she had suffered while preparing tea on a stove at her home in Hanumanganj on Thursday.
Investigating Officer ASI Daya Shankar Pandey said that the deceased Kamla Vishwakarma, resided with her nephew Shubham, in Labour Colony, Hanumanganj.“Shubham went to Rewa on Wednesday, while Kamla stayed alone at home. On Thursday around 9.30 am, when she was making tea for herself, her clothes caught fire from the stove and she sustained 70% burn injuries,” said ASI Pandey, adding that due to old age she was not able to raise an alarm for help. When neighbours spotted smoke billowing out of her home, they rushed to help and found that the room was locked from inside. Neighbours somehow gained entry into home and rushed her to a nearby hospital. Kamla succumbed to her injuries after three to four hours while undergoing treatment at the hospital. TNN
