NSG Mockdrill
Bhopal: A joint mock drill by the Counter Terrorist Group (CTG) of Madhya Pradesh Police and the National Security Guard (NSG) was conducted across key locations in the city on Tuesday to assess preparedness against potential terror threats and strengthen inter-agency coordination.
The exercise, held at Raja Bhoj Airport and Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, marked the culmination of a month-long specialised training programme conducted by NSG for state police personnel between April 6 and May 4. The training focused on counterterror strategies, use of modern technology and emergency response systems.
At Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, a simulated hostage situation was created inside a mall, where terrorists were shown to have taken civilians captive. Acting swiftly on the alert, joint teams of NSG and CTG commandos launched an operation, neutralised the attackers using advanced weaponry and safely rescued the hostages.
A parallel drill at Raja Bhoj Airport tested multiple security aspects, including surveillance, identification of suspicious activity and rapid response to high-risk scenarios. Officials said the exercise helped evaluate readiness and response time in sensitive locations.
Personnel from the dog squad, bomb disposal squad, local police and the state’s anti-terror unit also participated, showcasing coordinated action and real-time decision-making.
Senior officers, including DIG Tarun Nayak, AIG Abha Toppo and Additional SP Deepak Nayak, were present during the drill. Officials said such exercises are crucial to ensure swift and effective response in real-life emergencies and to prioritise public safety.
