Jabalpur/Bhopal: Night shift turned out to be a nightmare for two 20-year-old food delivery boys in two separate incidents in
Jabalpur and Bhopal. While in the Jabalpur incident, the delivery boy was stabbed and robbed of Rs 800, in Bhopal, the delivery executive was assaulted and robbed of mobile phone. While the Jabalpur police are searching the accused, the Bhopal cops nabbed the accused with the help of locals and recovered the looted mobile phone.
In Jabalpur, a 20-year-old food delivery boy Shailesh Noriya was stabbed and robbed by three youths near Anwarganj Tiraha when he was returning after delivering an order during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
In his complaint to Hanumantal police, Noriya, a resident near Madar Tekri Gate, said that he had gone to the Kotwali area to deliver a food parcel and was returning on his motorcycle in the wee hours when three youths intercepted him near Anwarganj Tiraha.
Police said one of the accused, identified as Shivam alias Shubham Sonkar of Khai Mohalla in Hanumantal, allegedly stopped the motorcycle and removed its key. When the delivery boy resisted, the accused allegedly snatched Rs 800 in cash and his wallet containing an Aadhaar card and other documents.
During the incident, another accused, identified as Deoraj, allegedly attacked the victim with a knife, injuring him on the left thigh, while a third youth, known as Pilla, assaulted him with punches and kicks.
The accused fled after the victim’s friend Sitaram reached the spot.
Hanumantal police have registered a case against Shivam alias Shubham Sonkar, Deoraj and Pilla and launched an investigation.
“I live here in Jabalpur with a friend, while my family stays in the village. I have no enmity with anyone, they attacked me without any reason. The Rs 800 they looted is almost equal to what I earn in an entire day after working hard delivering food from door to door. Now I will have to bear that loss myself,” Shailesh told TOI.
In a similar incident in Bhopal, three accused including a minor allegedly waylaid, assaulted and robbed a mobile from an online food delivery boy while he was going to deliver food parcel in the intervening night of Thursday-Friday.
As he raised an alarm, cops from Habibganj and Chunabhatti police deployed near the spot at a checkpoint nabbed the trio with the help of locals and recovered a looted mobile phone. A robbery case was registered against them at Habibganj police station.
In his complaint, 20-year-old Sanju Thakur, a resident of Shahpura area, told the police that he was going to deliver an order on his bike around 1.30am. Three persons stopped him near Arera Colony and they assaulted him and snatched his mobile phone.
After the incident, he immediately approached a nearby police vehicle checking point and narrated the incident to them. Police teams swiftly surrounded and detained the suspects in the nearby area with the help of passersby.
During their questioning, the accused identified themselves as Ashish Kanade, 45, Brajesh Wankhede, 21, and a 16-year-old minor. Police recovered the looted mobile phone from Ashish Kanade.
The Habibganj police registered a case and further proceedings are on.
