NEET aspirant attempts suicide in Madhya Pradesh, hospitalised
BHOPAL: A 19-year-old NEET aspirant sustained serious injuries in a suspected suicide attempt after allegedly jumping from an overbridge near railway tracks in Madhya Pradesh's Guna city on Saturday morning, police said.
The incident took place near the Bajranggarh overbridge. The teenager was found injured close to the railway tracks and was later shifted to a private hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the girl remained at the spot for some time before help arrived. An elderly passer-by reportedly noticed her and alerted others, following which local residents arranged transport and took her to hospital.
Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and are under investigation.
Officials received information about an injured girl lying near the railway tracks. Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal said the reason behind the incident has not yet been established.
"The exact cause behind this step is yet to be ascertained. The investigation is underway and all aspects are being examined," she said.
Police said the girl's condition is currently not stable enough for her statement to be recorded. However, officials said preliminary information suggests she was scolded by her family over her studies earlier in the morning.
