BHOPAL: Four men, including a father-son duo from Rajasthan, were killed late on Sunday when their SUV crashed into a tree while trying to avoid a cow sitting in the middle of the road.
The fatal accident occurred near the Kali Talai area of Sheopur district around 11.30pm during heavy rainfall.
According to police, the victims had departed from Ashoknagar around 8pm en route to Rajasthan.
As their vehicle approached a stretch near Kali Talai, the driver spotted a cow seated on the road.
In an attempt to swerve and avoid hitting the animal, the driver lost control of the SUV, which veered off the road, plunged into a ditch, and collided with a tree.
All four occupants died on the spot. The deceased were identified as Hariram Yadav (60), his son Mukesh Yadav (28), Vijendra Jat (23), and Haba Singh Gurjar. The cow also died in the collision.
Police reported that the vehicle was severely damaged due to the impact. A probe has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
