Monsoon menace: Power cuts making life miserable

Bhopal: With the onset of rains power supply trippings — short duration power cuts—are making lives tougher for residents.Sources said that there were frequent power cuts of varying durations in Shahpura, Katara, Kolar and other areas of the city as it rained heavily on Thursday evening. Officials claim that there could be short duration trippings as it is due to natural reasons, but there were hardly any longer duration power cuts in the city and supplies were resumed within minutes in areas from where complaints were made.“There were power cuts but it was due to natural reasons, like due to rain there were minor equipment faults, at some places there was tree felling but it was because appropriate maintenance is being done that the supplies resumed within minutes, there were no prolonged power cuts”, general manager (city circle), central Discom, Zahid Khan told TOI.He added, “There are 512 feeders which are supplying energy to consumers in the city. And one feeder if affected even for a minute affects thousands of consumers, but the main issue for us is to ensure that the supply is resumed as soon as possible and we managed to do so in quick time”.TNN
