Bhopal: A 26-year-old man was allegedly attacked with a knife by a hardened criminal and hospitalised following a dispute over drinking water at an eatery in Teela Jamalpura on Monday.
The accused, who has over half a dozen cases against him, was arrested.
Police said the complainant, Danish Sheikh, 26, a resident of Indra Nagar, suffers from a skin disease. On Sunday night, he went to drink water from a container at an eatery in Shahjehanabad when the accused, Bhaiyu alias Avesh, objected and prevented him from touching the container, citing his medical condition. This led to an argument between the two.
Later, on Monday around 10.15 pm, Danish was approached again by Bhaiyu, who lives in his neighbourhood. He picked up a quarrel with Danish, and attacked him with a knife, striking him on the back of his head. Danish had to be admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Teela Jamalpura police registered a case on charges of attempt to murder against the accused.
