BHOPAL: Agriculture minister
Kamal Patel has launched a ‘parallel movement’ in order to drum up support for the newly enacted
agriculture laws
. He is holding panchayats in villages and said that farmers are convinced about the benefits of the Central laws.
For the past two days, Patel, who is one of the most vocal ministers in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet, has been holding panchayats in Hoshangabad as well as in his home district Harda. Talking to TOI, Patel said, “I am getting a huge response from farmers and will expand such panchayats across the state.”
On Thursday, the agriculture minister went around villages across Harda district. In Kanarda village, he told farmers that the new agriculture laws would double their income. “Farmers would be free to sell their produce to anywhere and benefits of MSP would continue”, he said.
Patel asked farmers to raise their voices in support of the new laws. He said that Congress and some farmers’ organisations were “misleading” cultivators across the country. He said, “If th e laws are withdrawn, it would be harm future farmers.”
