BHOPAL: Congress MLA from Banda in Sagar district alleged "step motherly treatment" from the state government and said that the

DAP fertilizer

of the quota issued for the

farmers

of the region was diverted to Niwari where the by-elections are scheduled on October 30.

Meanwhile, a number of demonstrations took place in Sagar district where the farmers shouted slogans against the government demanding DAP, the fertilizer in demand. Farmers said that they need the fertilizer instantly. Farmers held demonstrations at

Makronia

and other parts of rural areas of Sagar.

Tarwar Singh Lodhi, Banda MLA, reached the

cooperative society

office in Banda town after the complaints that the farmers were waiting for long in a queue and there was no fertilizer. Lodhi said that the government was discriminating and alleged step motherly treatment.

"How can you divert the fertilizer of my farmers to other places”, he said as he broke down. He said he would "die on the street" and ensure DAP for farmers.

Later he reached the district headquarters and talked to the district collector who denied any crisis.

The Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar in Bhopal had admitted that there was a crisis of DAP. Tomar had also alleged that the Congress was playing politics over the issue. However, the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been keeping silent.

Farmers across the state have been facing the crisis and incidents of loot of the DAP were reported from the districts of Bhind and Morena, the hometown of the Union agriculture minister and Parliamentary constituency.
