Lawyers’ strike leads to deferred Bhojshala hearing

Indore: The scheduled court hearing on the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque case was postponed on Monday due to a state-wide strike of lawyers, pushing the proceedings to Feb 18.The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court — comprising Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla and Justice Alok Awasthi — was set to unseal a 98-page scientific survey report prepared by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on the disputed 11th-century site in Dhar district, following Supreme Court directives.
Ashish Goyal from the Hindu Front for Justice and Abdul Samad from the Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society attended the hearing. Advocate Vinay Joshi confirmed that the hearing could not proceed due to the strike, which was called in protest against the murder of advocate Sanjay Saxena in Karera, Shivpuri. District Bar Association members submitted a memorandum addressed to the PM and CM, demanding strict action against the accused.
