Judicial remand of Narottam aides extended

Bhopal: A special court designated to hear cases under Prevention of Corruption Act on Thursday extended the judicial remand of Virendra Pandey and Nirmal Awasthi, former aides of BJP leader Narottam Mishra during his term as water resource (WRD) minister, till September 5, 2019.

According to PRO of public prosecution Yogesh Tiwari, Pandey and Awasthi, who were arrested by economic offences wing (EOW) of police in connection with Rs 800-crore e-tendering scam, were produced in the court of special judge Sanjeev Pandey on expiry of the period of their judicial remand.

Appearing for the prosecution, assistant public prosecution officer Amit Rai requested the court to extend remand of the two accused as investigation into the case was on and if they were released at this stage of investigation, they might tamper with the evidences in the case.
